Crossing the SM Megamall Pedestrian Lane with Ease

When my sister-in-law praised me for being able to cross the busy street with ease and exclaimed her appreciation that she was with me, I pointed proudly to my chest and said, “Commuter!”
The street in question was beside SM Megamall, in between the San Miguel Corporation and the well-known mall. Cars and public transportation vehicles were coming from both ends of Julia Vargas St. and pouring into that particular corner.
Since the pedestrian lane was only about a couple of meters from that corner, the drivers were more apt not to follow the rights of pedestrians to cross even though it’s their turn to do so. What people usually do is weave in and out of the oncoming traffic.
Attention must be given to the distance between vehicles and the speed with which these vehicles are traveling. Through this analysis, one can gauge whether to move forward or not. I think my experience as a car driver helped me with estimating such matters.
