Pulis Oyster of Manila

Pulis Oyster Lilia KuboPulis Oyster Lilia Kubo - A June project that’s based in Manila made me aware of the existence of Pulis Oyster/s, which befuddled me to no end as to the possible origin of the name.

When my sister and I discussed the possible reason for the moniker Pulis Oyster, she suggested that maybe it has something to do with the fact that just like oysters, when they ‘clean,’ a ‘pearl’ is produced.

Watching a show at CCP (Cultural Center of the Philippines) created the opportunity to ask Pulis Oyster Lilia Kubo how long have the Pulis Oysters been around. To my surprise, she informed me that they’ve been around for a couple of years. She also had the mistaken notion that Pulis Oysters are all over Metro Manila, and I said that I’ve only seen them in Manila.

S^CRED informs readers that OYSTER is an acronym for Out-of-School Youth Serving Toward Economic Recovery.
