What will you do if a girl wearing a coat boards the MRT or LRT, then suddenly strips it off to reveal a bra and thong? Not satisfied with the scanty attire, she’ll also start dancing. And not just any dancing either. It’s the strip pole kind, as in, she’ll grab the pole and hang upside down, slither downwards, and do all the tricks pole dancers do, minus the strip to the birthday suit part.

Well, the situation I described above is a true to life incident in the Metro of Santiago in the country of Chile. Pole dancer Monserrat Morilles was christened as La Diosa del Metro or The Goddess of the Metro when she pole danced her way through several traveling coaches.

Her modus operandi involved boarding a train, choosing an open space with a pole, stripping off the coat, and then dancing till the train reaches the next station, where she’ll put on the coat once again and repeat the process.

What is her reason for doing the Metro striptease and dance? According to an interview with the BBC, Monserrat Morilles’ manager, Gustavo Pradenas explains, “People aren’t very extroverted and we want to take aim at that and make Chile a happier country.”
